Do You Dress Like A Goth?

Let’s begin with what kind of clothing styles you like to dress yourself with. Goth fashion is the chief part of this subculture. Initially it started when the fans would dress up like their favourite artistes.

So their style inspirations being Andi Sexgang from Sex Gang Children, Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees, Johnny Slut from Specimen or Robert Smith from the Cure and more. Over the time goth fashion has evolved much.

Goths like to wear dark colours such as black, dark blue, deep purple and even red. They would colour their hair in deep hues. Victorian era dresses are what Goths like to wear. Most of them wear long skirts, dresses with lace or ruffles, a certain cabaret, style like dress shirts or black suits and top hats and waistcoats. If you are comfortable with corsets, go for them. Accessories & Makeup

Boots are their favourite footwear. They would accessories with chains, spikes, chokers or elegant jewellery. Piercings and tattoos too are popular among goths. For makeup as well dark colours are preferred by most goths.

They would apply dark eyeliner, go for deep coloured lips and use dark eye shadows for smoky eyes. Some Goths like to go bright and over the top, such as Cyber Goths, but others prefer the Cabaret/Romantic/Victorian Goth image and opt for with old fashioned, classy makeup or deep dark colours.

Do you like Goth Music?

What kind of music you like to lend your ears to? Goth subculture is based on music. There are things that make you goth and a particular type of music is one. What interests you in music is the question that will help you know about yourself a lot.

If you are inclined towards Goth Rock, you are a goth. You may like a particular sun genre of Goth Rock. If you enjoy Darkwave, Deathrock, Dark Cabaret, Post Punk, Gothic Rock and Ethereal, you are a Goth. It doesn't mean that you can't enjoy Industrial music. 

But yes of course, fans of Industrial (known as Riverheads) have different origins from Goth. If you enjoy goth music, like the bands The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie, The Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Faith and the Muse, Black Veil Brides and The Damned.

Listening to goth music is not the only requirement to be called a Goth. And even being a goth, you can enjoy listening to artists who are not goths. You can lend your ears to whatever genre of music you like as long as your list of favourites includes goth music.

Poetry, stories, and songs are all the things that interests goths. Goths enjoy reading horror, supernatural, romance, drama, or classics. Goths are mostly artistic and creative people. They like to write poetry, stories or songs.
